Krenna

One of my Kremling karacters... I have a few that have been simmering in the back of my mind for years, and I mean to draw them all eventually...

Anyway, as Donkey Kong Country 2 is my favorite game and all, it makes sense I'd have a few fancharacters. Krenna here (whose name I just finalized tonight, after it being Karen or Karyn or Karynne for a long time) is a Kutlass, possibly my favorite type of Kremling (I do love the small ones with the huge weapons!). She is very fond of those swords, which are heirlooms inherited from her father. Although she is usually level-headed, if you touch them she will flip out at you. Seriously.

She is the childhood friend of another of my characters, Skurry, although they are quite different (but you'll have to find out more about Skurry later). Krenna comes from a well-to-do family who have gained much of their money through independent piracy not affiliated with the "Royal Kremling Navy" (basically K. Rool's name for all the pirates that serve him directly). As such she's pretty rich, likes fashion and nice things, and sometimes comes off as a bit of a "pirate princess"; nevertheless she is a sensible and down-to-earth girl.

The way I imagine it, after all the chaos (KAOS?) that K. Rool caused for his subjects (particularly after their ancestral home island was completely destroyed... yeah, it's kinda hard to just apologize for that one), the majority of Kremlings have come to oppose him (hence why he had to seek shelter among the distant group of industrial Kremlings in the Northern Kremisphere, then later scrounge up his loyalists for his dramatic revenge plan in DK64, and now is pretty much constantly in hiding), and some have come to oppose the ancient legacy of the Kremlings being ruled by a king or kween at all. This has created great and tense division among the Kremlings, and might even lead to a civil war environment if they weren't already so trashed by the Kongs that no one wants violence among themselves. Krenna and her family are independents, or autonomists, or antiroyalists, whatever you want to call them (often just called "indies" among the Kremlings themselves). What this means is not that she refuses to listen to mainstream radio, but rather, that they don't believe the Kremlings need a ruler at all.
