Demons can charm you with a smile, For a while, But in time, Nothing can harm you, Not while I'm Around... ---------- The lyrics are from "Not While I'm Around," from Sweeney Todd. It's sung by a young boy (Tobias) to a much older woman (Mrs. Lovett), who has taken him in and treated him with kindness after his having lived as an abused waif with a cruel master. Thus he feels immensely, obsessively protective of her. It's also the perfect song for Tera towards the King in the Jinjo-Minjo War. When I first saw the musical last summer, I was intrigued by the similarities between Toby and Mrs. Lovett's strange relationship and the one that I was already developing in the story between Tera and her king; where the older one feels a parental, protective love for the younger, but the younger develops quite an obsession towards their guardian, and becomes totally consumed with a desire to protect the older from perceived imminent dangers. Tera has many nightmares about the King, his bygone undead form, and his torment at the hands of Minjos. The demon-Minjos here are the kind of thing she would see for a few days of the War anytime she drifted off. No rest, not even in slumber. This is a venting picture in many ways, as I continue to fight off some demons of my own. The Jinjo-Minjo War (c) Its Authors. They know who they are and you know if it's not you. This picture did remind me of Okami too, after I'd finished. Especially once I added the texture. Subconscious influence, perhaps?
